Sydney & Wollongong Fishing Report
Striped marlin and dolphinfish have been the main focus offshore over the last two weeks with plenty of each being caught. The FADs have been generating some excitement, on Monday the water was 25.5ºC out there and there were plenty of fish around.
Rod and Nick have been getting stuck into the dollies, landing a couple of crackers. Live baits are doing well when trolled at a slow walking pace, or when dropped up current from the FAD and left to swim down deep past the FAD.

Ben Wilson got stuck into the striped marlin on board the boat ‘Warlord’ last weekend fishing in the Botany Bay Game Fishing Club’s 2020 Bill Heyward Memorial Tournament. Mike Bonnici and the team also fished the comp and managed a nice striped to land them with runner up tag and release and champion female.
John got his first stripe for the season recently on board the boat ‘Orion’, they landed four fish on the day with a double hookup to get the heart racing. They fished in around 60 fathoms of water off Cronulla trolling lures.
Joel Oliver has been fishing offshore quite a bit recently and having lots of luck with the striped marlin.
Plenty of reports from others that have gone out and landed their fair share of fish too.
Marlin have been spotted free jumping just off Kurnell in nice and close.
Reports of black marlin hugging the shoreline on their way down the coast, they should be in our area very soon!
Sydney harbour has been fishing well for kingfish over the last week or so with a few local young guns catching and releasing a huge amount of fish. Roman, Myles, Xavier and Oscar all landed plenty on a mix of bait, soft plastics and lures. All have been casting under moored boats.
Kingfish are prominent in the Port Hacking River, bait and lures working a treat. John managed 4 late last week.
Xavy Fonzy with a nice 66cm flathead caught down near Lilli Pilli baths yesterday afternoon. He came in and asked about the bottom magic, took one home and next thing you know he’s on!
Dylan with a nice flathead caught in the Lake Illawarra Flathead Classic that was held over the weekend. 190 competitors and 140 fish caught and released! He’s also been trolling along the cliffs down south for salmon.
Mitch and Daniel had a good spearfishing session off Bellambi over the weekend, nailing four nice kings and a crayfish on the way back in. The fish ranged between 75cm-100cm.
Tailor are being caught off Wollongong’s northern beaches. The Jackson Gallop Swimmer was thrown out with success recently rigged with assist hooks. It was worked off the bottom by lifting it up about a metre and then letting it drop back down all while retrieving at a constant medium pace.
Kai Moylan has been fishing for squid yet again with plenty of luck using his light gear outfit and a Yamashita Squid Jig.

The Bottom Magic in the new PDZ colour rigged with assist hooks has been working wonders lately, landing 15 nice fish in two sessions down the coast. Bream, flathead, whiting, tailor and flounder all had a bite of it!
