Sydney & Wollongong Fishing Report 20/10/20

  • 2 min read

This is our 2nd fishing report done since our long break off getting the new website up and running, if you missed last weeks you can head back to the blog homepage and find it there.

This week we've seen plenty of action both inshore and in closer offshore too, here's what we've seen and heard...

kev and his 36kg jewfish

Our good mate Kev caught this monster jewfish up the north coast earlier this week. Funnily enough he was fishing with a 1/0 hook and a worm off the beach and he ended up with a 36kg Jew hahah

Grayson and his 25kg kingfish

Grayson Hinrichs speared this monster 25kg kingfish off Sydney just a few days ago.

John has been doing well on the kingfish this past week, landing a bunch of fish using the Jackson RA Pop, the Fuze Doctor 130mm soft plastics and the Slug-Go 9” soft plastics. He also caught a couple of fish in Botany Bay on the Artist FR80 in colour SSS by simply flicking the lure on a slow retrieve after casting into bait schools.

Jackson Sweet has been finding kingfish in the Port Hacking River recently, his go-to lure being the 9” Slug-Go soft plastic in Albino Shad.

Merries reef off Cronulla has been fishing well for bream, drummer and trevally this past week.

Salmon schools have been sighted in botany bay.

Ian Davison with a very solid 20kg kingfish caught off Sydney on a live slimey over the weekend. His little fella also landed this elbow slapper in the shallows at Bundeena too.

Yellowfin tuna were caught over the weekend about 5km southeast of Browns Mountain on the troll, a double hookup led to one fish being landed for one boat.

A Port Hacking boat that fished the Whitesands tournament off Jervis Bay landed a yellowfin tuna so the fish are about.

Plenty of bait around offshore at the moment which means nothing but good things for anyone keen on heading out.

Lots of bass activity at the moment. Reports of bass being caught in big numbers up the far reaches of the Shoalhaven River.

Josh Robbins fished with his mate Jonathan late last week landing a massive 70 bass between them! The standout lures were little hard body cranks that they were slow rolling along the shallows.

Ed and Kaden caught their first Bass recently using Z-Man Finesse Frogz on topwater.

mixed bag of fish and abalone

Andi with a nice salmon caught off his favourite land based spot in Shellharbour.
