Sydney & Wollongong Fishing Report
Joel Oliver has been fishing his guts out over the past week yet again and it has shown. He got stuck into the Yellowfin, he was able to go 4 from 5, two days in a row with one Yellowfin going 62kg.
A Yellowfin Tuna, around the 50kg mark was caught off Jervis Bay over the weekend. The Tuna have been on the bite all the way from Sydney down to Bermagui.
Shane Barling (pictured above) tried his luck last week and went out chasing Reds off Wollongong. He was able to land himself a few nice 3-4kg Reds and when asked how he caught them, he said “Just throwing Plastics in 20-60m of water, following the bait & kept changing depth until i found them.” The Zman Soft Plastics were his weapon of choice.
There has been some nice Reds being caught around the Wollongong area, from Port Kembla all the way to Bellambi mainly on Soft Plastics. Cuttlefish have been around a lot lately in the Wollongong area. They are slowing down which in turn will hopefully bring in more Snapper in close.
Mitch went out for a dive the other day and said that there are plenty of Lobster & Squid still in and around the Wollongong area. He made sure he got himself a nice feed of Lobster before leaving.
Blackfish & Silver Trevally are still in good numbers around the washes.
The Cronulla Beaches have had a good run of Whiting being caught. Beachworms have done the job there.
Port Hacking has had some nice Blackfish & Tailor being caught. Anglers have noted that some nice sized Kingfish have been both spotted and caught around the Moorings & Channel Markers in the Hacking.
