Fishing Report

BIG NEWS OF THE WEEK:Black Marlin and Striped Marlin are moving in closer with the warmer water currents! A few reports of fish being caught along the coast, John managed a nice solo fish at the start of the week using live baits.

Dollies have been really active around the FADs, going wherever the warmer water takes them.

A few nice Kingfish were caught off Oily’s in Wollongong over the weekend on both surface poppers and baits.

Ahn Nguyen took his kids for a fish a few days ago for a catch of shore based Kingfish!

Shane Ackerman is pictured with an oversized Cray he pulled from Jervis Bay and released to live another day, and also a couple of nice Kings speared early last week.

Heaps of Salmon and Blackfish have been spotted off La Perouse by Mitch who went for a dive up there on Monday. Massive schools of Salmon were feeding on smaller baitfish.

Fergo’s been fishing the rocks around Bulli for good catches of Drummer and Tailor. The Drummer were caught on a 2 hook rig, on with peeled prawn and one with a ChinuKoro Craw soft plastic fished like a bait. The Tailor were caught using the Jackson Daniel 14g Lure retrieved at a medium pace with the odd twitch while reeling.

Flathead, Bream, Whiting and small Snapper are being caught throughout Botany Bay on both bait and lures. The ones pictured were caught on the Bottom Magic and Trout Tune Lipless. Port Hacking has seen plenty of these fish caught too.

Plenty of Flathead around the 50-60cm mark being caught in 30m of water of Cronulla.

Squid are plentiful at the moment, find the weed beds and you’ll find the squid. Kiama rocks produced the goods on Sunday with 12 caught on the Odori Squid Jig 3.5 Col 7 in about an hour which made for a bit of fun!
