The Alvey 60G Surf Reel is the most popular direct wind light surf reel model in the Alvey range. The Alvey 60G reel has a metal side cast system, a very strong lightweight graphite backplate, and a stainless steel base assembly. The 6" spool size ensures a long cast for beach use. The 60G also has a fish alert switch on the backplate that can be engaged if you want to walk away from your rod and leave it in a holder, it will produce a loud clicking noise when line is taken. The design of the Alvey 60G with minimal moving parts means use in the sand and saltwater is no problem, you can even rinse the reel after use with saltwater and it will have no negative effect.
To control a fish taking line on a direct wind reel like the Alvey 60G Reel, take your hand off the handle and quickly put it on the line surface under the spool to create drag pressure. When the fish has slowed, put your hand back to the handle and recover the line and the fish.

Orders containing oversized items - custom shipping cost required. After you place your order online as an 'in-store pickup', we will contact you regarding a customised shipping fee (minimum $14.99). Sometimes this fee is low, but if it's too high you can request a full refund.
NOTE: Sometimes we have to split your order and send multiple parcels, if this happens we will let you know and send through a tracking number for each parcel. When multiple parcels are sent we cannot guarantee that they will arrive at the same time.

Orders placed before 9:30am that contain standard items only will be sent the same day if all items are in stock.
Orders containing large or oversized items are sent with a courier and picked up from our store one business day after we process them.
For orders with missing items, we may be able to transfer them from our second store location which can take between 1-3 days. If this happens with your order, we will contact you asap to let you know of the delay.
We do not send items on weekends or public holidays, an exception being the weeks leading up to Christmas. Thus, items ordered on Friday after 9:30am will be sent Monday.
