Shimano Sustain FJ Spin Reel

The Shimano Sustain FJ Spin Reels are one of the strongest in Shimano's Magnum Lite range. Re-engineered from top to bottom, the Shimano Sustain FJ series features a range of upgrades like MicroModule II and MGL Rotor to improve its finesse and on-water performance. The MGL rotor in the Sustain FJ reels creates a light start-up, which allows the angler to wind faster and set the hooks quicker, but also adds to its overall lightweight feel. Combining the MGL Rotor with the Hagane body produces a light, yet strong reel that can handle the stresses of big saltwater battles. Features:

• Hagane Gear - the Hagane Drive Gear is produced by Shimano’s cold forging technology, without the need for additional machining. This delivers a long lasting smoothness, strength, lightness and power at the very heart of the reel. Traditional diecast, machined gears are less durable under heavy loads.
• Hagane Body - it's produced from high rigidity aluminium or magnesium. This creates stiffness and impact resistance, while at the same time eliminating flexing of the body. The result is a rock-solid housing and support for the moving internal gearing and greater efficiency throughout the reel.
• Micro Module II - Improved Micro Module gearing, making the reeling extreme smooth.
• MGL Rotor - The new design of the Magnumlite Rotor produces unprecedented light rotation, with a 14% saving in rotation inertia compared to the previous model
• XShip - a combination of features that work together to create much greater efficiency. By positioning the pinion gear close to the centre line of the large diameter drive gear, more power is transferred from the handle to the rotor. The pinion gear is also supported by two Shimano A-RB roller bearings. This creates more stability.
• Silent Drive - From the fundamental, whole body design to the most intricate parts of the drive train, including the drive gear, wormshaft, wormshaft pin and wormshaft gear, every piece has been carefully reviewed, and the smallest clearance gaps and wobbles have been eliminated to the highest tolerances.
• XProtect - A triple-lip structure is introduced to the roller clutch, where the first lip prevents water from entering through the space between the rotor and the body, and the second and third lip include a special grease to resist water even further whilst increasing the smoothness of reeling.
• Long Stroke Spool - The long stroke spool design improves casting performance when compared to the previous model due to a slightly higher spool plus improved line flow from the spool
• Rigid Support Drag - By strengthening the spool support of the main shaft, the play and fluctuation of the spool during drag operation are suppressed, allowing smooth drag delivery even under high load
• S A-RB Bearings - high corrosion resistant A-RB ball bearings with an extra shield for improved protection against sand, salt or dust.
• Cross Carbon Drag - Provides a wider range of drag setting, along with the smoothest Shimano drag performance ever
• Ci4+ - Use of CI4+ for the body and rotor delivers remarkable stiffness for better reel efficiency whilst minimising weight
