The Shimano Kidstix combos are an ideal combo for kids just starting out with fishing. They're easy to use and harder to break than most other rods and reels out there due to their tough fibreglass body and solid fibreglass tip, which allows a lot of flex before breaking. You know what kids are like swinging things around and running them into walls, chucking them on the ground, this is the combo designed to take as much of that as possible, all whilst keeping the cost down low.
The Kidstix combo rods come in three different sizes, a 4ft 6in rod, a 5ft 6in rod, and a 6ft rod. The smaller two sizes are basically the same rod just different lengths so if you're unsure go the bigger 5ft 6in model, it's perfect for general fishing applications and there's always time to "grow into it" and save some dollars down the track if it's a bit long right now. The bigger 6ft rod is slightly heavier than the other two in terms of the weight the rod can handle, so you'd get this one if they were going to fish offshore dropping baits to the bottom, or also if you're fishing off the beach.
The Shimano FX Reel is a quality budget reel with a metal spool for durability and robustness, and it comes spooled with line already so they're ready to fish right away.

Orders placed before 9:30am that contain standard items only will be sent the same day if all items are in stock.
Orders containing bulky or oversized items are sent with a courier and picked up from our store one business day after we process them.
For orders with missing items, we may be able to transfer them from our second store location which can take between 1-3 days. If this happens with your order, we will contact you asap to let you know of the delay.
We do not send items on weekends or public holidays, an exception being the weeks leading up to Christmas. Thus, items ordered on Friday after 9:30am will be sent Monday.
