Because of the Shimano Aerowave Composite rod this combo is a great all-rounder surf combo that can be used to fish with bait and/or lures effectively. At 6-12kg it's better when casting those heavier 4-6oz sinkers out and bigger metals & lures anywhere between 100-150g.
