Sydney & Wollongong Fishing Report

The Port Hacking 100 Open Tournament was held over the weekend with 46 boats entering. Striped Marlin, Blue Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Tiger Sharks & Mako Sharks were all caught throughout the competition. The $10,000 prize for champion team tag & release went to the Port Hacking GFC boat ‘Cookie’ with 1 Striped Marlin on 37kg line and 4 Yellowfin Tuna on 37kg line. The Botany Bay GFC boat ‘Sharkin’ took home $15,000, winning the 10k for champion team capture and another 5k for heaviest shark over 200kg, they landed a 219.5kg and a 181kg Mako Shark on 15kg line. There are plenty more noteworthy winners and prizes announced over on the Port Hacking Game Fishing Club Facebook page.

The Woronora River fished well over the last week with a stack of Estuary Perch caught & released on Soft Plastics.

A few nice Jewfish caught around Sydney recently, Tom Uglys bridge one of the spots fished over the weekend.

Andi recently threw around an Athlete 9JM rigged with assist hooks off Bass Point for a massive haul of Tailor and Bonito. They’re such a great lure for rock fishing because of their really heavy weight, at only 90mm long they weigh a massive 33g, which means they cast further than 99% of lures every day of the week!

Mud Crabs and Blue Swimmers are pretty hot in Lake Illawarra at the moment. A customer also brought in two Mud Crab shells yesterday and they were real big.

Shellharbour Harbour has been producing some nice Squid around the edges.
