Sydney & Wollongong Fishing Report

Fergo had a little flick just this morning off Bulli Beach and managed himself a nice flathead using the TW Dual Action Shad 3″paired with the Owner Stand Up Jig Heads in 3/8oz. A few things go into a successful beach fishing trip, the best conditions are usually: fish before the sun comes up and after it goes down, a run-in tide, in the corners of beaches or along the edges of gutters, and little to no wind.

Huw with a cracking lizard caught on the south coast just a few days ago. He said the fish broke his swim bait but it was clearly well worth it!

Flathead are starting to fire in most estuaries now as the water and weather warms right up. St Georges Basin is fishing well, Lake Conjola also and the Port Hacking River has had good reports as well.

Ross and his mate Scott christened Ross’ new boat down the coast with a few cracking catches. A 107cm jewfish, a 98cm flathead and another 94cm flathead. All fish were caught using soft vibes.

Angus with a solid lizard pulled from Lake Conjola on a 80mm Squidgy Prawn soft plastic.

Mitch and his dive mates Mark and Carl got stuck into the kingfish in close a few days ago. Here you see a few of their kingfish caught, a big school of drummer, and the mixed cooler full of fish and lobbies at the end of it. Mitch said there’s been lots of your typical rock and reef based species around up and down the coast lately, fish like Bream, Snapper, Drummer, Mowong, Kingfish and Trevally.

Roman’s pictured with a PB 47cm bream pulled from Sydney a few mornings ago on a Cranka Crab 3.9g Lure.

Reports of a good amount of nice sized whiting were caught around the Brighton Le Sands area over the weekend. They said used both freshly pumped nippers and hard bodies.

Good size Kingfish have been spotted in schools plus been caught in Port Hacking over the last few days.

Botany Bay is producing some very nice sized Bream, soft plastics being the go to for them.

Soft plastics and soft vibes are doing the damage on the jewfish in the Georges River at the moment.

John’s been fishing up north a bit with his mate Terry doing well using the Samaki Vibelicious Thumpertail Soft Plastics. They’ve caught plenty of flathead and a few nice jewfish, plus a couple of bream thrown in the mix too. Terry popped his jewfish cherry with a solid 90cm fish on day two.
